
With nearly 20 years of experience in video game development, Matt has been an Animation Director, Lead Animator and Senior Animator on many hit video game titles including Deadpool VR, Defector, Shroud of the Avatar, TMNT: Out of the Shadows, TMNT: Portal Power, and Thor: God of Thunder. He has extensive expertise in multiple areas of animation and video game development including gameplay and cinematic keyframe animation, motion capture animation pipelines, rigging and tool development, previs-shot planning, and expertise with game engine animation and implementation processes. He has a bachelor's degree in Communications Studies from the University of Texas and an honors diploma in 3D Animation and Visual Effects from Vancouver Film School.

Matt has Bachelor's degree in Communications from The University of Texas at Austin and a Post-Graduate Degree with Honors in 3D Animation and Visual Effects from Vancouver Film School. During his studies, he focused on media studies, 3D and 2D animation, 3D modeling, rigging, layout, composition, compositing, and video editing.

This video showcases a sample of the animations that I directed for the game Deadpool VR on Oculus Quest 3 and 3S. My contributions to these shots included pre-visualization, directing motion capture actors, retargeting and blocking out mocap data to characters, editing timing, and directing a team of animators to bring shots to final polish.
